A typical urban scene in Cuyahoga County... this photo is dedicated to all the urban living deer hunters, who because of moronic political elements and politicians, have to spend $100 on gasoline to put a little venison in the freezer.
Broadcast every Sunday morning from 8am-10am EST on WHK AM 1420 live from Cleveland, Ohio tune in to learn all about local, state, national and even international hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors from Reno "Jay" Reda and his co-hosts Jim Peters, Bob Faber, Chris McKimm (The Brew Kettle) and Carl Bachtel (OhioGameFishing.com).  Reno wil take you through two LIVE unpredictable hours of informative conversation with guests from all over the region covering topics even NPR hasn't considered yet... we once talked for 30 minutes about Whiporwills... Reno tried to imitate the sound, Jim wanted to know how to cook it and Bob tried to explain what it was and where it could be found.... all while Chris was making beer.  You will never hear the same show twice with "Inside The Great Outdoors", unless of course you tune in to WHK AM 1420 on Sunday nights around 11pm... in which case you will hear a rebroadcast of that mornings show.

WHAT IS THIS SHOW ABOUT?

What is this Show?... Inside The Great Outdoors is a group of folks that are dedicated to helping you learn about where and how to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities... every week we dedicate two hours to telling our listeners where to learn to hike, hunt, fish, camp, birdwatch, shoot... and just enjoy the outdoor lifestyle.  And if you are an experienced outdoor enthusiast then you will enjoy our guests from all over Ohio, the USA and even from around the world...  We are the first show to feature LIVE call-ins from the fields and streams and hiking paths... Imagine hearing a guide calling in a flock of geese...  or maybe you'll hear from one of our guests live in the African bush... yes.... we've had guests live on the air from a blind on a waterhole in Africa... LIVE ON THE AIR !!  That is the kind of unusual content you'll hear if you're listening at the right time.... Our show is a charitable undertaking... we try to raise enough money to pay for the airtime on AM 1420 WHK... one of the oldest and most respected radio stations in the USA... so we can help educate and energize the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts... the hosts do not make money from this show.... this is a labor of love... please help support our show and pass the joys of the outdoors on to the next generation..... Go to our Sponsors Page to find out how to support our show.

The Hosts

Reno “Jay” Reda – The larger than life (larger than most things period) retired Outdoor SkillsSpecialist / Wildlife Law Enforcement Officer.  Reno continues to promote natural resources outdoor oriented activities in retirement.  He is by all measures one of the hardest working guys in the outdoors business.  During any given week you might find Reno teaching and mentoring youngsters during the day and acting as Master of Ceremonies for any one of Ohio’s dozens of outdoors advocacy groups.  He fills those in between times by writing for Ohio Outdoor News, guiding various hunts and working with his golden retrievers.

We want to thank you for your interest in "Inside The Great Outdoors"  This is one of the most unique live radio shows in the United States.  As you know most outdoor shows are taped and predictable.  NOW... we want you do do something very important... we want you to take a moment and remember all of our brave Soldiers, Sailors and Marines that are at this moment sacrificing their chance to be home with their friends and family... and take another moment to remember the 1.2 Million Soldiers, Sailors and Marines  that gave their lives since the founding of our nation, and the 2 Million others that were wounded in battle... sacrifices made so that we may live free in the greatest nation on earth.  Don't thank us for this show.... thank  our active duty military personnel and our veterans! ... These men, women and yes... in many cases 18 and 19 year old teenagers hear all the negative stuff that is broadcast and printed in our "professional" media... They need your positive support in the form of a kind note, a short email, or maybe even a package of candy, snacks or some simple creative gift... A little kidness will  go a long way in letting them know that the majority of us care about them.... Please do your part... Thank You !

The Marine Corp is nearly 200,000 of the finest men and women the United States of America has to offer... they are the First to Fight for our Freedom... and REMEMBER in every important war going back to the Revolutionary War there has been negative coverage by some part of the media and many of the self serving politicians... and this takes a toll on our young men and women that are risking their lives.  Check out the websites listed at the top of the homepage and show your support for our men and women in uniform!
